two masters

Says right in the Bible, guy can only have one master at a time. Most men find themselves testing that limit from time to time in their lives.

I'm in here happily texting away with someone a little bit special, then go around the corner to the kitchen for a fresh cup of coffee, come face to face with the real-life partner who isn't nearly as nice as the fantasy girlfriend.

Keep a smile on my face? Start a big fight?

My father did it and came home to dinner with the family, smile on his face. If he and mom ever had the big fights they kept it well hidden.

Part of his job, pastor of the church stops by to visit a new widow once in a while, probably goes in with the purest of intentions, but you know how things can go and before long she's on her knees in his office at the church crying, demanding he buy a set of encyclopedias so she can pay rent that month.

It's never free.

As a teenager, that woman didn't seem all that hot to me. Dad's boss at that church had a much more glamorous girlfriend, but he's the boss and by rights should get the cuter woman "assistant", shouldn't he?

Wash my mouth out saying, but when the lights go low and passion runs high it's all about the same. Take what happens to come your way, opportunities can be rare and life runs out too soon.  Just don't forget to count the cost.

Think it says that somewhere in those encyclopedias.
